God's Plan: Sin is the Blame

As we approach Easter Sunday, I feel led to share why it was necessary for Jesus to be crucified but to do so we must travel back to the Beginning – Creation.  Contrary to theory of Evolutionists which claims that man evolved into who we are today, according to the Holy Scriptures, God created man out of the dust of the earth.  Here’s how it went down:
·       God created man and woman on the 6th day of Creation. Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground. ”So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground. Genesis 1:26-28 (NLT)
o   How did He create them?  The Man:  Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.  Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Genesis 2:7-9 (NLT)
o   Instructions: The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.  But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”  Genesis 2:15-17
o   The Woman: So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.  “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman, ’because she was taken from ‘man.’” This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Genesis 2:21-24 (NLT)
Let’s recap what happened while I emphasize a couple of points:
1.     God created the man first, symbolizing his authority as the Leader (protector, covering) of the family.  He then created a beautiful garden for the man (stable housing).  Next he created all of the animals, insects, birds, sea life, etc. and put Man in charge of everything (caretaker – job).  So he was fully prepared for his Woman (wife) to be in his life.  Next he created Woman, not out of dirt, but from the rib he took from Man’s side.
o   Ladies, don’t let anybody make you believe that God treats women as second class citizens, He doesn’t really care about us, blah blah blah blah blah.  God cares so much about us that He went the extra mile to customize us for the Man so he would have a helper, so that he wouldn’t be alone.  Man can never be a woman and woman can never be a man and neither is more important than the other. Men need women and women need men.  Anything outside the order of God is manmade and just because “they” made/make it doesn’t mean it is right.
2.     After creating Man and the Garden of Eden, He gave Man free reign over everything with an exception of one thing.  He was commanded not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil AND warned that if he did, he would die.  That’s it, but in so doing, He gave Man a free will of choice.
3.     The last instruction after he blessed the Man and Woman was for them to be fruitful and multiply – in other words go make a bunch a babies and let’s get this party started. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” Genesis 1:28 (NLT).

Man and Woman have gotten to know each other, things are going well but one day while they were out enjoying each other, chillin’ having a good time, out of nowhere the serpent (who was the shrewdest of all the wild animals) slips up on the Woman and asks her a question.  Here’s how the conversation went:
“Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”  “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”  “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.  “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”  The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.   At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.”

Let’s recap what happened here while I also emphasize a couple of points:
1.     The enemy planted a seed of doubt in the Woman’s mind.  He didn’t threaten, force or coerce her, he simply asked an “innocent” question that he thought might hook her.  He wasn’t sure what her reaction would be but as soon as she responded, he knew he had her.
a.      His tactics have not changed.  There is never anything ‘innocent” about what the serpent (devil, enemy, Satan) does.  He slips up on us when our guards are down and if we respond, in other words, contemplate, rationalize and/or ponder the question or thought, BAM!!!! He has us.
b.     James 4:7: So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
To the Woman’s defense, she didn’t have the Word that we do, however, she did have the instruction and though God didn’t give it to her directly, He did give it to her Husband, who clearly told her the tree was forbidden, but she didn’t listen, and ate the FRUIT.
Victory Nugget:  The bible NEVER said the Woman ate an apple.  Genesis 3:6.
2.     How in the world does Man let a serpent walk up on his Woman AND have an entire conversation in your presence and you never say ONE cotton picking word?  What’s up with that?  I don’t understand.
3.     NOTHING HAPPENED until the man ate the fruit.  Why?  The commandment was given to the Man, the head, protector, leader, covering of the family.  As soon has he ate the fruit their eyes were open to knowledge of good and evil.  Sin entered into the world because they broke God’s commandment (the law).  Sin is the transgression (breaking) of God’s law (1 John 3:4).

Genesis 3:8-19 summarized:  The Man and Woman (Adam and Eve) were keenly aware of their situation.  Ashamed of their nakedness, instinctively knew to cover their private parts.  Hid as soon as they God walking in the garden.  When God questioned them, God blamed the Woman, the Woman blamed the serpent and we have been blaming other people for our wrong from that day to this.  God cursed all parties involved.  I don’t mean he cussed them out either.
·       The serpent: used to walk upright but he was cursed to crawl on his belly;
·       The Woman: sharpened the pain of pregnancy and birth and increased her desire to control her husband but he would rule over her
o   Ladies, that’s why some of us struggle, it’s the curse
·       The Man: For the rest of his life he will struggle to make a living from the earth and he would die.
This was not God’s original plan, but because of disobedience, God had to pass judgment and implement a plan to address sin which was introduced to the world by Man.

More to come ….

In His Humble Service
